A shirtless and shoeless man commandeered a golf cart and led the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on a low-speed chase, all while cradling a dog in his lap. According to FOX LA, the chase commenced around 9:30 p.m. Yesterday, when the suspect allegedly stole a golf cart from a local shopping center. The cart bore the marking "security," suggesting a possible origin.
The bizarre chase gained attention as it unfolded, with the driver weaving in and out of traffic, not exceeding speeds of 18 miles per hour. Spectators lined the streets, snapping photographs of the suspect as he journeyed past them and thwarted officers multiple times. Oddly enough, the pursuit ended just minutes later when the suspect attempted to enter a parking lot, only to be obstructed by a semi-truck unloading its cargo ABC7 reported.
Despite attempting to flee on foot while carrying the dog, LAPD officers managed to apprehend the suspect. The canine companion was placed into a police car and later transferred to a city-operated animal shelter, all while facing no charges, as confirmed by KTLA.
Details surrounding the motive for this bizarre heist remain scant, and it is not yet clear if the golf cart was indeed stolen or whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. In a rare moment as he was led away by officers, the suspect advised onlookers, "Don't drink, don't do drugs, be a better person."
