Yesterday evening in Orange County, a gruesome accident that claimed the life of a driver occured, as reported by KTLA.

According to the Irvine Police Department's Facebook post, the fateful incident occurred at around 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, near the intersections of Barranca Parkways and Vertical. A gold Ford Explorer, driven by a man whose identity remains undisclosed, collided with a curb and traffic signal pole that caused significant intrusion into the vehicle. In the blink of an eye, the vehicle was engulfed in flames, killing the driver. 

Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to the scene in a matter of minutes and extinguished the fire. However, the driver, sadly, could not be saved. The driver’s identity is being withheld, pending notification of his next of kin as authorities work diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Currently, IPD's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the collision.
