Earlier today, a hit-and-run accident took place in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood of Los Angeles, leaving a pocket bike rider injured and the bike stolen. According to KTLA, the incident occurred just before 5 a.m. near the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West 69th Street.
The pocket bike rider collided with an unidentified vehicle which swiftly fled the scene, states an officer from the Los Angeles Police Department. To make matters worse, someone thought it fitting to steal the bike shortly after the collision. An ambulance transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but their condition remains unknown.
As per Ord & News, the seized pocket bike or mini bike is a type of miniature motorcycle, deemed not street-legal. The motive behind the theft and the individual responsible for taking the bike are yet to be determined. It remains unclear whether the individual was connected to the initial hit-and-run incident or simply a passerby.
With Figueroa Street blocked between 69th and 70th streets due to the ongoing investigation, LAPD investigators are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver but have not provided any descriptions at this time.
