
Tragedy struck in Lincoln Heights when a fourplex became engulfed in flames, displacing six residents from their sanctuary. The fire, first responding at midnight on the quiet neighborhood according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
Firefighters confronted the fire, which had broken through the roof of one unit in the one-story fourplex located at 2202 N. Thomas St. Yet, hope began to flicker when the LAFD swiftly launched an interior attack, thereby containing the flames within the unit of origin, as reported by the department. A total of 50 firefighters were involved in the operation, managing to knock down the fire in a mere 31 minutes.
No injuries have been reported, allowing relief to wash over the community. Nonetheless, the fire did not leave without claiming its due: six displaced residents, in urgent need of shelter, were left in its smoldering trail. Rising to the occasion, the American Red Cross was contacted to provide immediate assistance and temporary shelter for the affected individuals.
The cause of the fire and the financial loss it has wrought upon the residents remain to be determined.
