Earlier yesterday, a crime unfolded in the Boyle Heights community of Los Angeles. The El 7 Mares Restaurant on East Cesar Chavez Avenue fell victim to a brazen burglary that left the family-owned business reeling from the loss of thousands.
According to ABC7, three burglars used a power tool to cut through the security gate's lock and then crowbars to smash down the glass door. Boldly entering the premises around 4:49 a.m., these criminals seemed unfazed by security measures. The family of the restaurant owners shared their distress over the violation, with Tania Diaz, the owner's daughter, expressing her sadness about the theft of their hard-earned income.
The suspects reportedly entered the office building, cut into a large safe, and fled with over $20,000 in cash. The crime was captured on the restaurant's surveillance system, providing a clear view of the criminals' actions. In response to this violation, the family has begun repairs and plans to upgrade the security system further. They hope that authorities can quickly apprehend those responsible for the theft, a sentiment that all those affected by this crime undoubtedly share.
Unfortunately, the thieves had already disappeared from the scene by the time officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and suspect information remains limited. However, LAPD continues their search for the at least two burglars who perpetrated this crime. Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation, according to FOX LA.
