The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the family of Maria Perez, a 91-year-old woman suffering from dementia, are making desperate appeals to the public to help locate the missing senior citizen. Maria was last seen on Saturday, September 16, at around 3 p.m. in the 600 block of West Century Boulevard, according LAPD.
Maria Perez faces the cruel reality of dementia, a progressive disease that not only corrodes the mind, but also diminishes basic human abilities, such as orientation and problem-solving. The people in her life are deeply concerned about the dangers she may face while lost and confused, a fear that is gradually consuming them.
Maria Perez is a Hispanic female, a mere 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing around 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and light gray/white hair. On the day of her disappearance, she was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, yellow skirt, and black shoes, as reported by the LAPD.
If you have information regarding Maria Perez's whereabouts, or if you believe you have seen her, the LAPD urges you to call Officer Hendrickson of the Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800. During non-business hours or on weekends, please direct your calls to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).
