Over the past weekend, Rigoberto Mundaca, 41, and Jayee Sandoval Palacios, 27, were arrested by the Redwood City Police Department for allegedly possessing a staggering 200lbs of methamphetamine. The suspects were subsequently released on their own recognizance by a judge, despite the objections of the prosecuting attorney, according to a tweet by the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

The news of the colossal meth bust was further detailed in a San Mateo Daily Journal article. Mundaca, from Tracy, and Sandoval Palacios, of Earlimart, Tulare County, had planned to meet a third individual at the Marsh Manor Strip Mall, near the border of Redwood City and Menlo Park. Alerted through law enforcement channels about the impending large-scale meth transaction, officers of the Redwood City Police Department observed two vehicles described in their intelligence report—a PT Cruiser and a Toyota Camry—parked in the mall's lot.
Upon inspection, the officers reportedly discovered as much as 200 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the Toyota Camry. The case's preliminary hearing is set for December 18th, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
