Today, the San Diego Police Department identified the victim of a vicious stabbing in the Midway District as 44-year-old white male Joshua Goodman.

According to the San Diego Police Department report, on August 30, around 11:25 a.m., the San Diego Police Communications Center received a report of a stabbing at 3800 Midway Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Goodman lying in the parking lot of a nearby business, suffering from at least one stab wound. Despite the efforts of officers and bystanders who rendered aid, Goodman succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

Witnesses described an unsettling scene in which the suspect, who arrived at the location driving a light-colored minivan, jumped out of the vehicle and began chasing Goodman in circles in the parking lot. With each circle, the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim utilizing a knife. The entire incident transpired in less than 30 seconds before the suspect managed to flee the scene by jumping back into the van, driven by an unknown female. The car was last seen heading west on Midway Drive.

The investigation thus far indicates that Goodman and the suspect were acquainted, but the motive behind the gruesome attack remains unclear. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and follow up on leads as the public anxiously awaits an arrest in this heinous crime. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 5’08”, 200-220 lbs, while the only known detail about the driver is that she is believed to be female.

As the investigation continues, the San Diego Police Department urges anyone with information about the incident to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
