In what may have seemed like a straightforward theft, deep-rooted social issues are brought to the surface as a man was detained on suspicion of stealing bicycle tires on September 27, only to discover his involvement in larger offenses.

The arrest, occurred on the 2400 block of El Camino Real in Mountain View, California, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

Reportedly, a vigilant resident called Mountain View dispatchers to provide a detailed description of the suspect, Richard Nunez, 36. Upon being detained and subsequently positively identified via the Mountain View Police Department, officers on the scene found Nunez carrying a loaded gun with removed serial numbers in his backpack, along with additional incriminating contents such as meth and burglary tools.

The suspect was charged with several crimes, including misappropriation of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Nunez was ultimately booked into Santa Clara County Jail on these charges.
