- Golf carts are NOT street legal unless operated on a highway designated for such use
- Golf Carts can only be operated by licensed drivers and must be insured and registered with the DMV
- Parents allowing their child to drive any vehicle, including a golf cart, can be cited with a misdemeanor that could result in criminal prosecution
- Juveniles found operating a golf cart could be subject to an unlicensed driver citation, resulting in the DMV postponing their licensing until the age of 18
This public safety information serves as a reminder to both locals and visitors alike of the responsibilities that come with operating any type of vehicle, including golf carts. In neighborhoods such as Pointe Dume, where golf carts and other low-speed vehicles are often used for transportation, it's essential to be aware of the regulations and potential consequences of disregarding them.
