Three desperate culprits led authorities on a wild chase that spanned two cities, ultimately meeting their downfall in San Mateo. Hailing from San Francisco, the trio of suspects made headlines when they boldly drove a stolen vehicle to a Target store in San Mateo, where they reportedly pocketed $1,400 worth of merchandise. Their exploits proved fleeting, however, as they would soon find themselves ensnared in a police trap, leading to charges including theft, drug possession, and violation of existing arrest warrants according to the City of San Mateo Police Department.
Not only did the apprehended thieves earn additional infractions by running from law enforcement and swallowing narcotics upon capture, but they also expressed immense dismay and regret when they realized the county they were in. It seems word has indeed spread about San Mateo's zero-tolerance policy for organized retail theft.
