
Today, the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) announced the arrest of Miguel Rivera, a 42-year-old San Jose resident, as the primary suspect in a felony assault case that took place on September 19.
According to the San Jose Police Department, Rivera allegedly entered a business on the 400 block of E. Santa Clara Street and attacked a lone employee. Thanks in part to the collaborative efforts of patrol officers and detectives from the Sexual Assault Investigation Unit (SAIU), Rivera's arrest came just a day after the incident.
Upon collecting evidence and identifying Rivera as the suspect, SAIU detectives obtained an arrest warrant and a search warrant for his residence.
The suspect was ultimately charged with assault with intent to commit a felony, kidnapping to commit a sexual offense, attempted robbery, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, battery causing great bodily injury, and false imprisonment.
