In the case of 2-year-old Ezekiel Cassy's fentanyl-related death last year in Manchester, New Hampshire, a second man has been charged, adding new dimensions to the case. Ezekiel tragically lost his life after being exposed to the deadly drug in October 2022. His father, Claudy Cassy, was already indicted on 17 charges earlier this year, including manslaughter, child endangerment, and a string of drug offenses. Claudy's trial is set to commence in December according to NBC Boston.
Documents released on Tuesday now reveal that Idris Terrell, 30 years old, is also facing charges of recklessly causing Ezekiel's death by acting in concert with Claudy Cassy. Terrell has been charged with manslaughter and reckless conduct as reported by WMUR. However, no attorney has been listed for Terrell in the court documents. Cassy's attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
County Attorney John Coughlin, in an interview with WMUR, acknowledged that the case is indicative of a larger issue in Manchester and emphasized the city's struggles with drug trafficking. "Obviously, we have a drug trafficking problem in Manchester, and despite the best efforts of the Manchester police – and they're doing a great job trying to get this under control – it's just not working," Coughlin said.
