In the Northwest of Santa Rosa, a man was arrested by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) for the alleged homicide of his father. The police received a call last week, about a possibly deceased individual in a residence on the 3500 block of Sweetgum Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the alleged suspect standing outside the residence and immediately detained him without trouble. Inside the home, a deceased adult white male in his early 70s, later identified as 72-year-old David Schieber, was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room. The investigators' preliminary findings point towards his son, Patrick Schieber, 43, as the suspect in the heinous crime.
According to a Twitter post by journalist Henry K. Lee, Patrick Schieber has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Lee reveals that the alleged suspect used a rock "larger than a baseball, but smaller than a softball" to bludgeon his father to death. The motive for this gruesome act remains undisclosed at this time. The SRPD Violent Crimes Team has taken over the case and is thoroughly investigating the tragic incident to uncover the motive that led to this act of violence.
Field and Evidence Technicians processed the crime scene, and the suspect was arrested with no other outstanding suspects. While the case is still underway, Lieutenant Christopher Mahurin at SRPD has stated that additional information regarding the investigation will be released when it becomes available and as soon as significant family notifications have been made, thus ensuring the family's privacy in these trying times.
