In an incident yesterday on Oak Grove Avenue in Santa Rosa, a 19-year-old young man lost his life when the vehicle he was a passenger in collided with a tree after veering off the road at a high speed. The driver, an 18-year-old male from Healdsburg, was later arrested and is now facing felony charges, as reported by CHP Santa Rosa.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who investigated the scene, preliminary findings suggest that the Toyota Camry was traveling at a significant speed southbound on Oak Grove Avenue. The driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the car veering off, and ultimately colliding with a tree. The impact led to significant damage to the car and injuries to the occupants.
Unfortunately, the 19-year-old front passenger in the car suffered fatal injuries due to the crash. The driver was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and released, during which time the police recognized signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and promptly placed him under arrest. The names of the driver and passenger remain undisclosed.
As the case unfolds, the Healdsburg driver faces felony charges for his actions.
