A tragic accident occurred in a Morena-area park, resulting in the demise of a 68-year-old woman yesterday. The victim was driving her 2003 Lexus SC 430 when the vehicle veered off the north side of Friars Road and collided with a tree, according to Fox5 San Diego. The crash occurred around 3:55 p.m. near the 6000 block of Friars Road, leaving the woman trapped in her car.
First responders from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department were quick to arrive on the scene, extricating her from the vehicle. However, despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead, as reported by 10News.
The cause of the fatal collision is still unclear. Authorities have not yet stated what may have led to the vehicle veering off the roadway into the park, causing it to flip over upon impact with the tree.
