Over the span of just a week, between September 18 and September 24, the West Hollywood Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff has recorded a notable uptick in crime rates, including aggravated assaults and grand thefts.
On September 18, a pedestrian walking on Curson Avenue in West Hollywood was accosted by a suspect who initially threw a rock at the victim before brandishing a box cutter, causing the victim to fear for his life. Only a day after this seemingly random act of violence, residents were greeted on September 20, with another disturbing report of aggravated assault. This time, the suspect attacked two individuals walking on Santa Monica Boulevard with a bamboo stick, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department.
Moreover, burglaries and thefts have been on the rise. It began with a forced break-in at a location on Santa Monica Boulevard on September 18, where the culprit stole a safe from the interior. Another example of the crime spree occurred on Friday, September 22, when two laptop computers were taken from the trunk of an unlocked vehicle on Flores Street.
Due to these recent incidents, local law enforcement agencies are working to reassure residents of their ability to maintain the security and safety within West Hollywood. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, for example, has been closely monitoring the situation and regularly providing updates on criminal activities.
