On Saturday, a 7-year-old girl was struck by a 2010 Ford Escape around 11:30 a.m. near 35 Warner St., Gloucester. Gloucester police and first responders promptly arrived, finding the injured girl conscious on scene, according to WCVB.
Boston 25 News reported that after receiving initial medical intervention at the scene, the girl was taken via ambulance to O'Maley Innovation Middle School. She was airlifted from there for further treatment to a Boston hospital.
As per a CBS News report, the driver of the SUV, who has not been identified publicly, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The girl reportedly ran suddenly into the roadway before being struck by the vehicle, according to the initial police investigation. The Gloucester Police Department's probe into the incident remains ongoing.
The young girl's current health condition remains yet to be known. Those in the community hope for her swift recovery.
