A robbery took place at Sam's Jewelers in Sun Valley Mall on May 18. Concord police received a 9-1-1 call from the store's employees, reporting that a man armed with a hammer threatened the staff and smashed the glass showcases, taking an estimated $25,000 worth of jewelry, according to a Facebook post by the Concord Police Department.
Despite not apprehending the suspect, Bryant Donquile Gray, a 35-year-old resident of Pittsburg, the case was transferred to the Financial Crimes Unit. After an exhaustive investigation, the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office filed felony charges against Gray, including Second Degree Robbery, Grand Theft of Personal Property, and Second Degree Burglary, per the Concord Police Department.
Gray's previous violent criminal history has been disclosed, making it clear that this wasn't his first act of aggression. Gray remains in custody in San Francisco due to a separate attempted murder charge.
