Bank of Canton Data Breach Leaves Over 9,500 Customers ExposedSource: Google Street View

The Bank of Canton recently announced a data breach affecting over 9,500 customers, according to Boston 25 News.

As stated by The Cyber Express, the breach was the result of a cyberattack on one of the bank's vendors, Fiserv. The attack that occurred around May 27, and exploited a vulnerability on the MOVEit Managed File Transfer application.

Sensitive customer information at the Bank of Canton was put at risk, despite it being stored in a secured, technical format. The bank,  to quickly alleviate concerns, has offered impacted customers a two-year identity protection service. This includes credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration.

 

In response to the data breach, the Bank of Canton put forth identity protection services, and Fiserv worked to resolve the issues with their MOVEit software.
