The Milpitas Police Department recently foiled an organized retail theft at a Marshalls retail store, arresting two women who allegedly had stolen merchandise worth nearly $1900.

According to the Milpitas Police Department's Facebook post, the incident transpired when a detective patrolling the Great Mall parking lot noticed two figures, burdened with large bags, rapidly leaving the mall. The detective saw them swiftly get into a car and drive off; quick actions led to the involvement of a patrol officer. Following a stop of their vehicle, an inspection uncovered the stolen Marshalls merchandise and a tool purposed to disarm security sensors within the items. The detective then arrested the two adult females, who live in Merced.

The authorities were initially deceived by one of the women who provided a false name, however, her true identity eventually revealed a felony warrant for grand theft. Therefore, the pair faced charges, including felonies related to theft, false identification, and outstanding warrants, before being incarcerated. The unlawfully obtained merchandise, meanwhile, was returned to Marshalls.

The Milpitas Police Department emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for organized retail theft.
