A security officer reported two suspicious individuals in a gated area of a vacant building at the 1300-Block of California Circle yesterday. These individuals had cut through the fence, entered the building, and were allegedly attempting to steal copper, according to the Milpitas Police Department.

No more than 40 seconds elapsed from the security officer's report before Milpitas authorities arrived on the scene. One suspect, a 37-year-old female from San Jose, was arrested immediately. The other suspect, a 33-year-old male also from San Jose, tried to escape by climbing onto the roof. However, he was apprehended quickly with the aid of drone technology employed by police.

Warrants had been previously issued for the male suspect on charges of narcotics and assault. Both individuals are now behind bars, facing charges of burglary, theft, and conspiracy.
