
Yesterday, a solo vehicle collision occurred in San Marcos at approximately 5:50 p.m. The San Marcos Sheriff's Station received a report about the accident, which took place at the intersection of San Elijo Road and Ledge Street. According to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, a silver 2005 Toyota Rav-4 left the road, and crashed into a fire hydrant and pedestrian signal pole, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.
To render aid, the San Marcos Fire Department quickly responded after hearing about the collision. They found a critically injured adult male at the site. Despite their efforts, the victim died from his injuries at the Kaiser-San Marcos hospital. Investigators found that the 27-year-old male victim, a San Marcos resident, had not been wearing a seat belt and got partially ejected when his vehicle hit a dirt embankment and flipped onto its roof.
No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the accident. Currently, the Traffic Division of the San Marcos Sheriff's Station is investigating the potential causes of the accident.
The San Diego Sheriff's Department has reported that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the accident, leaving investigators to determine any other underlying factors that may have caused the loss of control. The Sheriff's Department is encouraging anyone with potential information or video footage of the collision to come forward, hoping to better understand the circumstances leading to the incident.
