Last week, September 25, Jaymie Branham, 47, and Vazhon Durant, 27, were arrested by Hesperia police on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, and substance possession. Deputies responded to a reported burglary at a residence on Oak Hill Road where both suspects were apprehended acting suspiciously, according to a Victor Valley Sheriff's Department press release.
Both suspects, who are currently on parole, were held without bail due to a parole hold. The investigation into the incident is reported to still, be ongoing.
The incident underscores a broader concern with property crime in the region. It's an issue that has persisted nationally even as other crime rates have declined over time, according to data from the Pew Research Center.
Victims of property crime often experience a decrease in their quality of life due to the loss of personal possessions and a sense of security. It's suggested that the implementation of effective preventative measures could lead to an improvement in these areas. These include the use of surveillance technologies and promoting the timely reporting of suspicious activities.
Authorities continue their investigation into the Hesperia burglary. Anyone with information about the incident or locations on the suspects are encouraged to reach out to Deputy K. Williams at Victor Valley Sheriff's Station 760-552-6800, or anonymously through We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or www.wetip.com.
