During an early morning traffic stop today, Pacifica Police officers arrested two individuals after uncovering a load of illegal substances and a firearm. The vehicle, intercepted at around 12:02 a.m., was driven by a young man accompanied by an underage peer. They were suspected of alcohol and marijuana usage as per the Pacifica Police Department's report.
The initially minor traffic stop quickly escalated when a 9mm pistol, lacking a serial number, was found in the passenger area. Suspected MDMA and Alprazolam pills, for which neither occupant had prescriptions, were also found in the vehicle according to the police report.
As a result, the driver, Derick Garcia Maurno, and the passenger, Samantha Kayla Hayes, both 20 and from San Francisco, were arrested for weapons and drug-related charges. They now await legal proceedings in the San Mateo County Jail.
