
On Friday, October 20, a late-night carjacking in the typically peaceful Palo Alto neighborhood on the 400 block of Matadero Avenue took residents by surprise. Although carjackings are not a regular occurrence in the local area, this incident, involving a motorhome, has raised concerns among locals. The Palo Alto Police Department's news release states that the suspect is still at large.
The victim, an elderly man, was asleep in his motorhome when he was awakened by the starting of the engine. He confronted the male suspect, struggling briefly before the thief drove off in the motorhome, hitting another parked vehicle in the process. The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention. The missing motorhome is a tanned Ford Fleetwood with a brown stripe, according to the police report.
Based on the victim's account, the police are now looking to quickly for a white male in his twenties with dark hair, a trimmed mustache, wearing a white shirt and blue pants.
