Massachusetts is preparing for potentially its first snow of the season this year. Although no major accumulation is expected, regions such as western and central Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley, and the North Shore could see light snow or a mix of rain and snow tomorrow, November 1st, as reported by Boston 25 News.
An approaching ocean storm could cause temperatures to drop enough for snow to fall, says Boston 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear. However, the mild ground temperature is expected to prevent any significant accumulation. Despite this, slight accumulation in Berkshire County and possibly a dusting in particular central Massachusetts towns are not unlikely.
On the other hand, areas such as eastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Nantucket, and the Vineyard are projected to receive only rain.
Cold but dry is today's Halloween weather, with highs ranging between 45 and 50 degrees and nighttime lows hitting the chilly 30s and 40s as per NBC Boston's report. Similar cold conditions will continue into Wednesday, with highs forecasted to hover in the 40s.
The shifting weather patterns as Massachusetts enters November foreshadow the slow transition into winter. The sun is expected to return by Thursday and Friday, leading to projected temperatures in the 60s over the weekend as per Boston 25 News. Regardless of the weather - rain, snow, or a mix - Massachusetts residents are preparing for the beginning of the winter season.
