The County of San Diego has unveiled its Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP), a comprehensive initiative devised to minimize greenhouse gas emissions across county facilities and unincorporated areas. The ultimate objective is achieving net-zero emissions by 2045 as stated in the County News Center.
Offering to improve countywide sustainability, the plan involves multiple sectors, including the built environment, transportation, energy, solid waste, water and wastewater, and agriculture and conservation. The CAP endeavors, while meeting state GHG obligations, to pave the way for a sustainable future.
Wide-ranging benefits are anticipated by the County News Center, spanning improved natural environment, better public health, green career opportunities, enhanced quality of life for residents, reduced wildfire risks, improved energy reliability, and lowered utility bills in the unincorporated area.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to slightly adopt the Draft CAP in Fall 2024, marking a significant stride in the persistent quest for environmental sustainability.
