On October 2, San Francisco resident Derrell Anderson, 48, was arrested at a grocery store on the 700 block of Hickey Boulevard in Pacifica. As reported in a Facebook post by the Pacifica Police Department, Anderson was caught trying to shoplift by hiding items in his clothing. Later, it was found that he had violated his parole terms and had not registered as a sex offender with any law enforcement agency since he was released from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Anderson faces charges under 290.011(A) PC, a statute that relates to homeless individuals who fail to update their sex offender registration within 30 days. He's also charged under 11364(A) H&S, which pertains to the possession of drug paraphernalia. Further, a no-bail warrant for parole violation, issued by the California Department of Corrections, makes his case a felony.
