
The San José Police Department received reports of the shooting at the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Monterey Road. An adult male was described as the victim of the fatal shooting. The suspect, Javier Yanez, a 40-year-old male, was identified by investigators and arrested on October 20. Per Hoodline, this incident marks the 27th homicide for San Jose this year.
Due to the investigation, the vicinity around the crime scene witnessed traffic disruption. The westbound Capitol Expressway off-ramp to Monterey Road, to collect and examine evidence, was shut down for several hours.
Yanez was identified as the suspect during the investigation, leading to the issuance of his arrest warrant. The Covert Response Unit of the San Jose Police Department secured Yanez and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail on homicide charges.
