The San José Police Department (SJPD) has reported the 41st fatal collision of 2023. The accident, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle, occurred near Jackson Avenue and Alexian Drive yesterday, at around 1:03 a.m., stated the SJPD release.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2003 Dodge Truck collided with a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle. The collision resulted in life-threatening injuries for the rider, leading to their death, as per the SJPD.
The victim's identity is currently withheld, pending confirmation by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office and notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the Dodge truck was arrested and detained at the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. Drunk driving is a significant contributory factor to many traffic accidents.
