This Tuesday, October 24, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) initiated an investigation following the detection of a deceased male near 15th and Santa Monica Blvd. The man appeared to be homeless and was found in the heart of Santa Monica. The SMPD swiftly secured the area and immediately launched investigative procedures.
According to a reported account by the Santa Monica Daily Press, the body was found on the sidewalk close to a Lexus dealership parking lot, across from the 15th Street Liquor store. Forensic teams were observed collecting evidence and gathering information from the scene. Additionally, the investigation involved both marked and unmarked police units, along with plain-clothed detectives who aided in the proceedings.
Police officers are holding off on releasing more information until they receive surveillance footage from nearby shops and residential buildings and receive the results of the coroner's examination.
