Los Angeles is gearing up for the opening of two new SLAB locations: one in Canoga Park at the Westfield Topanga shopping center and another at 812 South Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena, as reported by What Now Los Angeles and confirmed on the SLAB website.
Burt Bakman, SLAB's founder, has journeys from Israel to Los Angeles, establishing himself as a respected barbecue pitmaster along the way. A visit to Texas kindled his love for barbecue, and it wasn't long before he earned a devoted foodie following. Bakman, partnered with the h.wood Group, translated this passion into SLAB's creation.
SLAB was initially a backyard endeavor at Bakman's San Fernando home. Remembered for the perfectly smoked and flavorful barbecue he and Brian Toll from h.wood Group prepared, SLAB had humble intentions of bringing the atmosphere of a backyard barbecue to a larger audience, reports What Now Los Angeles.
SLAB's brick-and-mortar launch occurred three years later, to focus solely on quality, SLAB maintains a modest menu with a disregard to, compete with other establishments, according to What Now Los Angeles.
Quoted by the Westfield Topanga website, "Bakman's determination ultimately brought him success. As the mastermind behind Trudy's Underground barbecue in Los Angeles, Bakman garnered a reputation for his skill at the smoker and a committed Instagram following from LA's notoriously discerning food enthusiasts."
SLAB's success is rooted in not only the taste and quality of its offerings but also its origin story. Each bite of SLAB's brisket or ribs stands as a testament to Bakman's years of perfecting the art of barbecue.
