Just past 2 AM on Tuesday, authorities responded to gunfire in the 500 block of Arboretum Drive on Stanford University's campus, discovering a 47-year-old female university employee with a gunshot wound to her leg.
The victim, who remains unidentified, was quickly taken to a local hospital for further care. In collaboration, The Stanford University Department of Public Safety and the Sheriff's Office formed the initial response team to the shooting.
With the Palo Alto Police Department's assistance, the suspect, Robert Daniels, 43, was apprehended the same day during an unrelated attempted robbery incident. Following details of Daniels' arrest were given in a press release by the Palo Alto Police Department. Daniels was subsequently arrested and is being held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of attempted murder.
