The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office effectively utilized FLOCK cameras and drones to apprehend criminals involved in a stolen vehicle case, allowing them to maintain public and property safety without subjecting personnel to undue risk.
A recent Facebook post by the Hillsborough Police Department stated that a stolen vehicle was detected in Hillsborough through the use of the FLOCK Safety License Plate Reader (LPR). The vehicle, a stolen Lexus SUV from San Francisco, was sought by several law enforcement agencies, only to be abandoned in a residential area.
The suspects were quickly apprehended with the collaborative deployment of an infrared drone, police K-9 units, and search teams.
Technological innovation plays a vital role in law enforcement beyond just deterring crime. Implementing these tools can mitigate physical risks to officers and innocent bystanders by reducing human error.
As stated in the same social media post, after they had been apprehended, the suspects were found in possession of a variety of illegal items, such as suspected stolen mail, burglary tools, and narcotics, among other things.
