A North Texas woman has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after admitting to driving intentionally into oncoming traffic on I-635. The horrid act that resulted in the death of one person and serious injury to another occurred last week. WFAA reported that Diamond Brown, 22, confessed the fatal crash was an attempt to end her own life.

Irving Police Department officials have said that the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, when Brown, driving her Nissan Altima, collided head-on with another vehicle while traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-635, near State Highway 161. The crash resulted in the death of Zainab Monsoori and serious injuries to Fatima El Adel, who was driving the other car. According to CBS Texas, the devastating impact resulted in Monsoori's death at the scene and Adel being hospitalized with multiple bone fractures.

Investigators initially suspected Brown of driving under the influence when they calculated her speed to be approximately 88 mph at the time of the collision. However, this theory was dismissed when Brown admitted during a follow-up interview that she was attempting to commit suicide, as per WFAA's report. A witness recounted to the police that Brown's vehicle was traveling the wrong way down the right shoulder before swerving directly into oncoming traffic, causing the fatal crash.

Brown, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the accident, now finds herself facing grave charges for her reckless and devastating act of driving her vehicle into oncoming traffic.
