The Ventura County Harbor Department is combining the 57th Annual Parade of Lights with the 4th Annual Channel Islands Harbor Food & Toy Drive—a tribute to the Spark of Love Toy Drive. The details of these events can be found on the Channel Islands Harbor official website.
Harbor Department Director Michael Tripp revealed that the combine events aim to enhance holiday festivities and amplify community generosity. The Parade of Lights will bear the theme "Santa's Workshop Creates a Spark of Love", symbolizing communal support for the needy.
Thronged by thousands to residents and visitors annually, the Parade of Lights will be held on December 9th at 7 p.m. with more than 50 decorated boats. Attendees are encouraged to bring a toy or a non-perishable food item to be donated at various harbor locations, as per Channel Islands Harbor article.
The Ventura County Fire Department and ABC7 cooperative for the nation's largest community toy drive, Spark of Love, brought gifts to over 30,000 needy Ventura County children and teens in 2022. Ventura County Fire Department Chief Dustin Gardner noted the initiative is intended to bring holiday cheer for children in foster care, low-income families, and alike situations.
A tweet shared by the Ventura County Fire Department, painted a picture of palpable community excitement for the Parade of Lights. Gathering for the Parade, attendees are both continuing a local tradition and helping out those less fortunate—an embodiment of the holiday spirit.
