On Friday, an Austin police officer on duty was injured by a suspect escaping arrest in northwest Austin's apartment complex, CBS Austin reports.
Initial reports were suggestive of an Austin Police Department (APD) officer injured near Far West Boulevard at the 7200 block of Hart Lane, the details of which were not clear at the time as stated by KVUE.
As per CBS Austin updates, the officer was investigating an incident of vehicle theft and was hit by the fleeing suspect, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. Medics promptly transported the injured officer to a hospital.
The Aggravated Assault Unit of the Austin Police Department quickly took on the task of investigating the incident.
