Tragedy struck the town of Avon, Massachusetts, as the prolonged search for a missing man reached a somber conclusion. According to Boston 25 News, search teams discovered the remains of Keith McKechnie, who had vanished without a trace this past September, within the depths of a well on East High Street.
In a search that resumed on Saturday, emergency crews sifted through the well, uncovering the missing 45-year-old's body. A visual inspection of the cadaver revealed no glaring signs of physical harm. District Attorney Morrissey expressed his condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are very much with the McKechnie family tonight. This is a very sad result," as mentioned by Boston 25 News.
Keith McKechnie—familiar to locals as a man inclined to stroll within the East High Street area—was last accounted for over two months ago. As reported by CBS News Boston, Avon Police and Fire cited that the well had been previously scrutinized by sight.
The body was escorted to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston, where it awaits an autopsy scheduled for Sunday or Monday.
