Wei Fen Ong, a Carrollton woman, faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which includes a count resulting in injury, following a violent incident last Friday. Ong is accused of stabbing her husband and driving her vehicle, with her three children inside, into a Lewisville retention pond. Ong is currently being held in Denton County jail with a bond set at $1.8 million per NBC DFW.
The Carrollton Police got a call around 7:45 a.m. on Friday from a man claiming his wife had stabbed him at their home on Tall Knight Lane. Ong is alleged to have driven her vehicle, carrying her children, into a pond off Hebron Parkway. Passerby Mark Schuman stumbled on the scene and alerted authorities, also aiding in the rescue of the unresponsive children from the vehicle. Schuman recounted, "I said, 'Get on top of the car', and I called 911". Without any hesitation, he took the risk and was instrumental in the rescue of the children as reported by NBC DFW.
The implications of the traumatic incident are not yet clear. Further investigations are expected to reveal details about the situation.
