In an extraordinary rescue operation this morning, a female hiker, found with an altered level of consciousness on Pleasanton Ridge Trail, was hoisted to safety, thanks to the quick response of multiple California agencies. According to a Facebook post by CHP - Golden Gate Division Air Operations, East Bay Regional Parks Helicopter Eagle initially located the distressed hiker, paving the way for an elaborate rescue involving several teams.
Upon receiving the distress call, the CHP’s H-30 helicopter teamed up with East Bay Regional Parks, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire, San Ramon Valley Fire's Helicopter Rescue Technician (HRT) team, and Falck Ambulance to undertake the daring mission. As fire crews reached the victim by a dirt trail, H-30 expertly lowered a San Ramon Valley Fire HRT to assist, "H-30 lowered a San Ramon Valley Fire a Helicopter Rescue Technician (HRT) to the scene," revealed the CHP statement alongside harrowing footage of the mission.
The synchronized rescue saw the hiker being secured in a harness and hoisted aboard the helicopter, with the HRT member accompanying her during the precarious airlift. After a short but critical journey, covering a distance of approximately three miles, the rescue team and the patient were safely transported to the trailhead on Foothill Road in Sunol.
The patient's ordeal concluded as she was gently lowered to a waiting Falck Ambulance crew, ensuring her swift delivery to a local hospital for necessary treatment.
