In a nerve-wracking cliff rescue in San Pedro, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and LA County Lifeguards have combined forces to save an unresponsive man found roughly 100 feet down the side of a cliff early this morning. According to the LAFD incident report, the emergency teams were called to 1 Point Fermin at approximately 08:48 AM.
Upon arrival, LA County Lifeguards were the first to reach the scene, and the LAFD confirmed the male victim's critical position over the cliffside. The fire department's divers from the Marine Division were promptly launched to work in conjunction with the lifeguards, while the firefighters figured out a way to access the patient from above.
Rescue divers and lifeguards made contact with the man by the water's edge, transporting him to safety onshore amidst treacherous tide conditions, as stated in the updated press release by LAFD. Remarkably, the man, previously unresponsive, regained consciousness, was alert, and was conversing despite the serious injuries he sustained.
