Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, as she was cuffed early Friday morning in Beverly Hills for a DUI, authorities told KTLA. Haddish, known for her breakout role in "Girls Trip," was apprehended after police responded to a call about a driver asleep at the wheel at the intersection of Beverly Drive and Dayton Way shortly before 6 a.m., authorities told KTLA.
The TMZ report details that the Los Angeles native was taken into custody without incident and will be cited for DUI before her impending release. The arrest marks the second time Haddish has been caught in a drowsy daze on the road, the first being last year in Atlanta, where she was also charged with DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. The upcoming court date for that prior run-in with the law is set for December 4th.
Haddish, in between legal woes and professional gigs, performed at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood on Thursday. The occasion was the club's 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast for the community, an event that preceded the morning's unfortunate events. Despite the severity of the charge, the Emmy and Grammy winner managed to make light of her past encounter with the police during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, previously joking that she was looking for a man with a perfect credit score and God sent her four men in uniform instead. This isn't the first time Haddish has tried spinning misfortune into punchlines or profits.
The comedian's camp has been contacted about her recent arrest, but as of now, they have not made a statement on the matter.
