On Friday, Jahon Terez Smith, also known as "Quant," was charged for multiple shootings that occurred in Compton in 2001. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, a man and his three-year-old daughter perished in the incident, and two others were severely injured.
These charges stem from an investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which was reopened in order to reexamine the case. The victims of these shootings, Stephen Murphy and his daughter Kali Murphy, were remembered with a renewed push for justice, according to KTLA.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, upon announcing the charges to Smith, stated: "No matter how much time passes, we will never stop pursuing justice on behalf of the victims and their families" in reference to KTLA.
Jahon Terez Smith was, upon arrest, charged with two counts of murder and four counts of attempted willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder. During a series of drive-by shootings in Compton, Smith allegedly acted with co-conspirators, killing a man and his daughter, and wounding two others. His arraignment is set for November 29, with the possibility of life without parole.
