A Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) security officer was assaulted on a northbound Red Line train at Walnut Hill Station on Monday evening. In self-defense, the officer opened fire, wounding the suspect, who was promptly apprehended. According to WFAA and FOX 4 News, the suspect was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The incident transpired at approximately 6:40 p.m. No other passengers were injured during the event. The security officer had their injuries attended to by emergency medical services and was subsequently released. In respect of the incident, the DART Police are leading a full investigation.
