The crash took place around 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of N. San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards, severely affecting traffic, with local authorities advising people to stay clear of the area as reported by Fox LA.
As stated by CBS News, the intersection were closed for hours while investigators probed the cause of the incident. The sheriff's department SUV was immobilized in the intersection with the other vehicle, showing front-end damage and resting near, almost touching the sidewalk. Both the deputy and the other person involved were taken to a hospital, and it was initially reported that their injuries weren't severe. The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station confirmed there were no criminal offenses related to the crash.
Around 9:45 a.m., the investigation concluded and despite prior road closure, the intersection was opened again, verified by the LASD West Hollywood Station's advisory update.
