A six-alarm fire engulfed two Dorchester homes, sending one to the hospital and leaving nearly thirty without a roof over their heads, as per officials, WHDH reported. Firefighters raced against the flames on Saturday at 21 and 19 Ellington Street. The American Red Cross and The Salvation Army have stepped up, providing a lifeline to the 29 souls cast adrift by the tragedy, offering shelter, sustenance, and support.
The Boston Fire Department called for reinforcements, scaling up from a second to a sixth alarm in mere minutes, according to updates from fire officials on Boston 25 News, by 4:20 p.m., the team fought to prevent the fire's spread and by 4:30 p.m., they had managed to knock down the heavy fire. More homes may have been involved but only these two multi-family homes were confirmed heavily damaged.
The person whisked to the hospital suffered undisclosed injuries.
