The alert suggests that elderly residents are being targeted in a scam involving the theft of jewelry, according to the Facebook post of Lowell Police Department.
A pair, consisting of a man and a woman, are allegedly engaging victims—primarily the elderly—in conversation, offering them fake jewelry, while subtly stealing their real jewelry items. At times, this exchange has turned violent.
