The motorist who'd hit the woman stayed at the site and promptly phoned 911. Although El Cajon police officers and Santee firefighters swiftly responded and attempted to provide aid, they were unable to save her life. Thus far, attempts to identify her have proved unavailing, despite thorough fingerprint analysis and searches for personal identification items.
The unknown victim is reportedly a black woman, between 40 and 50 years old, with a height of about 5'3", weight of approximately 110 lbs, and brown eyes. She had short grey and black curly hair at the time of the incident. A forensic sketch artist has rendered a potential representation of her, alongside details of the clothing she was wearing at the time of the incident.
The reasons behind the unidentified woman's actions and presence on that ill-fated night remain to be determined. As a part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have begun enlisting the help of the local community and sharing information about her condition and appearance.
The Investigations Unit of the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office is appealing to anyone with potentially relevant information to contact them at (858) 694-2905. They are also instructed to refer to case number 2023-03094 during any pertinent communication.
