
On November 14, a 6-year-old boy, Jeremy Diaz, from Georgetown, sadly passed away following a severe attack in his home two months ago.
Jeremy and an unnamed individual were assaulted by their 39-year-old neighbor, Daniel Logan, on September 11. As KVUE documents, Logan initially attacked his mother with a baseball bat before forcefully entering the Diaz family's home and striking Jeremy with the bat. Arturo Diaz, Jeremy's father, provided a tragic recount of the incident, describing his son's severe injuries.
Following the attack, Jeremy fought for his life and the community has shown its support in tangible form. The family opened a GoFundMe account to gather funds for Jeremy's hospital expenses, collecting more than $311,210, according to CBS Austin. Tragically, on November 14, Jeremy lost his fight and passed away.
Arturo Diaz shared the heartrending details of the events preceding Jeremy's passing. On the night of November 13, Jeremy experienced an intense neural storm which lasted for almost six hours. The following morning, his heart unfortunately stopped. Arturo Diaz expressed his grief and the deep anguish of losing a child too soon.
Daniel Logan was arrested and charged with two first-degree felonies—injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member.
